Importing equipment into Thailand
Thailand makes a lot of equipment, both local and from global brands. But if your machinery has real advantages in price, quality or technology, it has a chance of finding buyers: Thai companies are actively modernising manufacturing, agriculture and healthcare. These are the areas people most often came to me with:
Printing equipment
Printing and packaging machinery for print shops and packaging makers. Demand is driven by the food industry and exports.
Medical equipment
Diagnostic and treatment equipment, fit-outs for clinics and labs. Private hospitals and clinics keep upgrading. Medical devices are registered with the Thai FDA.
Agricultural machinery
Machinery, irrigation, storage and processing for rice, fruit, vegetables, sugar cane and rubber.
Food processing
Thailand is a major food exporter, so anything that speeds up processing, freezing and packing is in demand.
Fishing and aquaculture
Equipment for shrimp and fish farms, fishing and seafood processing.
Pest control
Machinery and solutions against rodents and insects for fields, warehouses and plants.
What you need to import equipment
- Importer. Equipment for sale can be imported by your company in Thailand or by a Thai distributor partner.
- Registration and certification. Medical devices are registered with the Thai FDA, and some electrical equipment needs certification to Thai standards (TISI). We check what applies to your equipment by its type.
- Technical data. Model and HS code, new or used, voltage and number of phases, power, frequency, connections and dimensions, taken from the rating plate and the manual. Thailand's grid is 50 Hz: 220 V single-phase and 380 V three-phase. Compatibility with a specific site is confirmed by the buyer's engineer or a service partner.
- Used equipment. Extra restrictions may apply to importing used machinery; we check in advance.
- Duties and VAT. They depend on the HS code. Projects with BOI promotion may get import incentives for equipment, but BOI decides after assessing the project. My company UnblockPro.Asia handles the application.
- Service and spare parts. Thai buyers almost always ask who will service the equipment locally. It is best to have an answer ready before negotiations.
How to find equipment buyers in Thailand
Finding equipment buyers is harder than finding food buyers. Buying companies do not advertise themselves, and their contacts are not always online. What works here is business connections, trade shows, calls and meetings in Thai, and the ability to interest the buyer: a demonstration, a calculation of the benefit, service terms.
Exporting equipment from Thailand
Thailand is a major industrial hub in Asia. Global brands run factories here alongside strong local manufacturers, so Thai equipment appeals to buyers for its value for money.
Construction
Construction machinery, tools, formwork, scaffolding, steel structures and materials.
Medical
Medical furniture, clinic equipment and consumables, including gloves and disposables.
Agricultural machinery
Compact machinery, pumps, irrigation and crop processing equipment.
Electrical
Air conditioners, refrigeration equipment, electric motors and components.
Food and packaging
Lines for processing, portioning and packing food.
Auto parts
Components and spare parts from export-oriented manufacturers.
Documents and restrictions. Usually you need an invoice, a packing list and a certificate of origin. Medical devices go through their own registration in the buyer's country. We check in advance whether exporting the specific equipment to your country is restricted, and payments are made only openly, through a bank and under a contract. Delivery is usually by sea; oversized equipment is quoted separately by the forwarder.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need my own company in Thailand to sell equipment?
Not necessarily. You can work through a Thai distributor. Your own company gives more control, and BOI-promoted projects may get equipment import incentives; BOI makes the decision.
Can used equipment be imported into Thailand?
Sometimes, but extra restrictions may apply to used machinery. We check your case in advance.
Will my equipment work on the Thai grid?
Thailand's grid is 50 Hz: 220 V single-phase and 380 V three-phase. We check the rating plate (voltage, phases, power, frequency), and compatibility with a specific site is confirmed by the buyer's engineer or a service partner.
Does medical equipment need registration?
Yes. Medical devices in Thailand are registered with the Thai FDA and imported by a licensed importer.
Can I buy equipment in Thailand and ship it to my country?
Yes. I find manufacturers, check them, negotiate and arrange shipping with a forwarder and a broker.
Do you only work with Russia?
No. Most requests come from Russia and the CIS, but I work with clients from many countries; terms are discussed individually.
