Why there's so much fraud around Thai A4 paper
Thai office paper has a good reputation worldwide, and scammers exploit it. The internet, B2B platforms and messengers are full of “factories” and “official dealers” with prices that are hard to refuse. Checking them from another country is almost impossible: a website, warehouse photos and certificates are easy to fake.
I'm in Thailand, I speak Thai and I can visit the company's office or warehouse. That's usually enough to tell within a few days who is a real supplier and who isn't.
9 signs of an A4 paper scammer
- 💸Price far below marketFor example, $0.3–0.5 per ream. In my experience, such offers have always turned out to be fraud.
- 🏦100% prepayment requiredWith no contract, no guarantees and no chance to see the goods.
- 👤Personal bank accountOr a company in another country, or a request to pay in crypto.
- 🚪No visits allowedWhen you offer to visit the office or warehouse, they disappear, stall or ask for a “visit fee”.

How I find and check A4 paper suppliers
- Your list or my searchI check suppliers you've found, or I find and review 10–20 companies for your request myself.
- Company registerI check the registration, directors and address against the Thai company register.
- Calls in ThaiI ask questions that quickly weed out resellers and fake companies.
- Site visitI go to the office, warehouse or factory, take photos and video and see the goods with my own eyes.
- Prices and termsI compare price, minimum order, packaging, lead times and delivery terms (FOB, CIF, etc.).
- Your reportWho is real and who isn't, plus reliable options with current prices and contacts.
Even with a real supplier, check the quality
Finding a real supplier is half the job. The paper may not match the stated specs, or it may be a fake of a well-known brand in look-alike packaging. Before paying for a large batch, I recommend checking:

How we check: samples before ordering, a printer test, and inspection of the batch at the warehouse before loading, with photos and video. For large batches, an independent inspection company can be brought in.
Brands and prices of A4 paper from Thailand
The best-known Thai office paper brand is Double A. There are also other manufacturers in Thailand, as well as companies that make paper under the buyer's own brand (private label).
In my experience, major brands often work through official distributors in buyers' countries and may refer you to them rather than sell directly from the factory. Terms differ by brand and country and change over time, so I check them for each specific request.
On prices: as a reference, in 2018 the official export prices of well-known brands were around $2.5–3 per ream FOB. Prices are different today and depend on brand, weight, volume and delivery terms. I get current prices from manufacturers for your volume.

How do I pay a supplier safely?
Only to a company account and under a contract. For large batches, use a letter of credit or staged payments. Never pay to a personal account or in crypto.
