Need an interpreter in Bangkok for a meeting at a bank, the police, a hospital or business talks? People there speak Thai, and a single wrong word can cost you money, time or your visa. Here is where in Bangkok you most often need an interpreter, what it costs and how to book one.

Mike Boldyrev: I have lived in Bangkok for 14 years, interpret between Thai, Russian and English, and accompany foreigners to meetings. I am not a lawyer: if you need legal help, I bring in a licensed Thai lawyer.

Where in Bangkok you need an interpreter

  • Bank. Opening an account, KYC and source-of-funds checks, talks with the manager, account restrictions. If your account is frozen and the case needs real work, my company UnblockPro.Asia handles it.
  • Police. Reporting a theft or fraud, being summoned to a station, the cyber police. I interpret every word and make sure you understand what you sign.
  • Hospital and clinic. Doctor's consultations, check-ups, surgery, dentistry, talks about the bill and insurance.
  • Immigration and government offices. Immigration at Chaeng Watthana, the district office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department of Land Transport for driving licences.
  • Notary and lawyer. Powers of attorney, contracts, certification of documents. The lawyer does the legal part, I interpret.
  • Business. Negotiations with partners and suppliers, trade fairs at IMPACT and BITEC, factory visits.

How to book an interpreter

  1. Message me. Where and when the meeting is, roughly how long it will take and what it is about.
  2. I confirm. We agree the date, time and exact price before work starts. Payment is 100% before the meeting; larger tasks are paid in stages.
  3. I prepare. If there are documents or letters, I study them in advance. Up to 30 minutes of preparation is free.
  4. We meet on site. I interpret and, after the meeting, explain what to do next.

A human interpreter or an app?

For taxis, shops and cafés, a phone translator is enough. But at a bank, the police or a hospital the conversation is about money, health and documents: the officer asks follow-up questions, uses their own terms and expects precise answers. That is where you need a person who speaks Thai and understands how the procedure works. How to choose an interpreter in Thailand →

From experience. In summer 2026 I spent several months accompanying one client around Bangkok almost every day: banks, meetings, government offices. For regular work like this, a 5-day package or the personal assistant format is more convenient and cheaper than paying for each visit separately.
